Pitmaster Andrew Plaza – Andrew started off doing backyard because he bought a pellet grill while on a vacation, since then he hasn’t looked back. This lead to the opportunity to try out competition BBQ, through the BBQ on the Bow society’s mentorship program, pairing up new cooks with seasoned teams. After Andrew’s first competition and winning 3rd for Pizza in Chef’s Choice he was hooked. Andrew loves to bring unique flavors and flare from his travels to his cooks but has found that his true love lies in cooking with fire.
While utilizing influences from America’s best BBQ joints and combining them with various cooking techniques, grills and smokers, Andrew creates wonderful barbecue dishes that will leave you wanting more.
Andrew currently writes monthly recipes for Barbecues Galore (Food for Thought) and was seen recently on Food Network’s FireMasters in April of 2023.
In 2022 Andrew and his BBQ team sit in the Top 20 ranking in Canada and own the 10th best Ribs in Canada title.
Andrew and his teammate, co-pitmaster and friend decided to create the Ultimate Guide to Backyard BBQ, a BBQ class that teaches new to the grill or veteran grillers how to create amazing meals all while using grills.
